"sm70- why not Duesenberg?" (sm70-whynotduesenberg)

Pickups, especially those to the lifted variety, have been taking a lot of flak on here lately, from me and others. So here's a reminder that, like anything else, there are good lifted trucks and bad lifted trucks, and that maybe, just maybe, I'm too quick to judge sometimes. Thank you to JordanWPhillips for bringing about this slightly sappy moment of self-reflection. Your scheduled programing here on the SM70 sub-sub-blog, which is to say, sarcasm and derision, will resume tomorrow morning.

I also maybe jump on circlejerk bandwagons too, not all GM products are bad.

So, sorry Logan for talking shit about GM products. I am a fan of the company that builds the Corolla, Camry, and Prius, after all.

Comically lifted (I dont think the driver realizes):

Yukon GT...I am not familiar with that. Did it involve performance upgrades?

Hey, everyone's entitled to their opinion. GM, admittedly, has built some total pieces of shit over the years.
I've said some things about Toyota before, but I'd owned quite a few of their products without issue. Mostly the 4-Runner and the new IS.

Being the 90's, no. It was just an appearance package. I think it was only available in black and purple, and possibly red.

If it's that dark plum purple, I'll take that please.

Speaking of great GM goodness.. my late god father baby'ed one of these after owning many corvettes and other GM muscle cars in the 70's on..
(Not his picture) but my Aunt wants to sell it. Has 100k+ miles on it and the typical New England rust you'd expect to find. Part of me really wants to buy it, fix it, etc but Im not sure how feasible it'd be in the end.

And Toyota may have had a little bit of a mass recall issue in the past as well. And I may have experienced their build quality issues a few times as well. Like this thing here:

Oh hey, my girlfriend's Camry had a 3.0L V6.
Key word is had. Damn thing killed itself while we were on the highway.

As long as you realize that it will not haul anything but ass, it shouldn't be that much of a burden. Except the transmission.

It was a shame because it wasn't a bad little motor performance wise.
I actually enjoyed driving that Camry more than I do her Taurus now.

Luckily I have a buddy of mine who owns a shop with his dad who was a transmission repairman before they opened said shop. Im sure they would know of a body shop or two to get rid of the rest. I mean I already have a paid off DD with only 85k miles on it and given they're my god parents Im sure I could work a wicked deal.

The round generation of Taurus wasn't known for it's driving dynamics. Just remember, the Camry version of the 3.0 had more power...AND torque than the much heavier 4Runner. It'll rev and break the speed limit, but don't expect that last part to make it in a hurry.

It would definitely be a fun toy, plus they can be modified for more!

It's a serious understeering pig that Taurus. And just no torque whatsoever.
Actually it seemed pretty damn peppy. Especially when it made almost the same amount of horsepower as my Safari. Not as fast as her dad's 328i, but not too far off.

That Canyon sounds bitchin'. Does it sound vaguely like a lambo? Or am I totally deaf?

Somehow Camry's find a way to be quick. My Dad got a 4 banger one as a rental a few months ago and was surprised by the power. Plus it had paddle shifters, but so does the Grand Cherokee, so those aren't that special any more.

It's a 5 cylinder, so it sounds like half a Lambo V10. So you aren't deaf. I kind of want one just for the sound.

Ah, that makes sense it sounded like a chunky V10, which makes sense since it would be firing half as often.
